The communities of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cafepress.com\/sandyssquare.101477047\">Fernandina Beach<\/a> and Amelia City are both located on the island.<\/p>\n<p>The island was named for Princess Amelia, daughter of George II of Great Britain, and changed hands between colonial powers a number of times. It is claimed that eight flags have flown over Amelia Island: French, Spanish, British, Floridian\/Patriot, Green Cross, Mexican, Confederate, and United States.<br \/>\nThe Amelia Island Trail is a part of the East Coast Greenway, a 3,000 mile-long system of trails connecting Maine to Florida.<\/p>\n<p>We moved here 9 years ago when we fell in love with it on vacation.\u00a0 &#8220;We&#8221; is Me of course, my husband, and my son.\u00a0 He is the youngest of our &#8220;children&#8221;. He&#8217;s a man now at twenty years of age. With <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autismspeaks.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Autism<\/a>, he does at this time have some limitations from complete independence.\u00a0 After a hectic life of raising three other children, it was time for us to enjoy life, and most of all, we wanted a different environment for our son.\u00a0 It has been one of the best decisions of our lives.<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s a wonderful restaurant overlooking the marina called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thesaltypelicanamelia.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Salty Pelican<\/a>. Matter of fact, it was the first place we shared a drink at before the big move. \u00a0 It&#8217;s a favorite for us and for many of the locals. When approached by a tourist asking for a good place to eat, it&#8217;s the first place that comes to mind. The food and prices are great, and you can&#8217;t beat the view.\u00a0 Finding a table at times is a challenge. Although very spacious, it gets very busy just before sunset. It&#8217;s simply one of the best places to view one and you&#8217;ll find many trying to snap gorgeous pictures of their own.\u00a0 As you can see, it&#8217;s not a difficult task. \u00a0 \u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-709 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/blogpage.sandrassoulserenity.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Pelican-300x224.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"254\" height=\"190\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogpage.sandrassoulserenity.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Pelican-300x224.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogpage.sandrassoulserenity.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Pelican-768x574.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blogpage.sandrassoulserenity.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Pelican-1024x765.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blogpage.sandrassoulserenity.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Pelican.jpg 1296w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 254px) 100vw, 254px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>So there&#8217;s the info on the logo.\u00a0 What is a better reason to choose this picture for this blog and the store than one that is special to the heart.\u00a0 If you&#8217;re ever in Amelia Island, pull up a chair and capture a sunset. He had a passion for photography and art and was a gifted writer. We bonded over this and he was my coach&#8230;. so often giving me the pep talks needed.\u00a0 He lived a fascinating life cut short by Cancer. He would be so proud of me for stepping out and sharing my writing as well as my new interest in photography. If he was alive today, he would be asking me how to create a blog with an anticipation to share his writing skills.\u00a0 In his lifetime, he was a freelance writer and photographer for the newspapers as well as owning a photography studio in upstate New York. He loved nature and always had a camera at his side or in hand. Most of all, he would be proud of us for starting a new life elsewhere. &#8220;Good for you, you can&#8217;t sit around waiting for the right time&#8221;, he&#8217;d say.\u00a0 My logo picture also reminds me of him. A visit to the marina almost never passes without me thinking if he was alive, he would be capturing such beauty.\u00a0 He&#8217;s not, but I will.
